Yes, that is because the main differences between porcelain and ceramic are in water absorption and construction, not design! This large-format/fewer grout line responds to a big trend today: bigger and bigger tile!

It has a through-body color, meaning that the hue goes all way through the bisque. This is opposed to the more traditional method of being only on glaze and comes in countless designs and colors, making it an ideal choice for wood and stone-look tile on floors, walls, or tub/shower surrounds. A floor tile for the busiest, most heavily foot trafficked rooms

This is made of clay, sand, and glass and is also fired at higher temperatures. This results in a heavier, more dense tile that's great for kitchens and busy areas like hallways or bathrooms. It absorbs far less water than some other tiles, making it waterproof whether or not it's glazed and can be installed outside, withstanding the most severe weather.

Other ceramics include

1. Squares, rectangles, ovals of any size: You'll see an overwhelming assortment when you come into our tile shop. These have different wear levels, as indicated on the label as Class 1 (indoor walls only) or up. The most commonly chosen is Class 3, suitable for indoor floors, walls, counters, and tub/shower surrounds.

2. Mosaics: These are tiny (sometimes as small as 1 X 1), durable, often glass-coated, and mold/mildew resistant. Often used as accents on floors and walls, mosaics are now trending as bathroom flooring.

3. Terracottas: These reddish-brown bricks are highly durable and can be used indoors or out.

4. Subways: Primarily used on backsplashes, these are also appropriate for indoor low traffic floors, such as in the bedroom.
